When Is The Best Time To Train Your Dog?

In this article we will answer the questions, when’s the best time to train?

It’s always best to train your dog when he’s hungry.

Here’s why: Your dog will be much more mentally alert, and will respond much better to food rewards because he’s hungry.

If you give your dog two meals a day, this will make time for two 15 minute training sessions a day, which is perfect.

When your dog is getting to grips with a particular training command, you need to reduce the amount of food treats and physical rewards he gets, but always give verbal praise so he knows he is doing the right thing – and to bond with your dog.

With some time, your dog will soon be more than happy to just receive the verbal praise so don’t worry.

When Should You Train Outside?
When your dog will obey your commands in your home (where it’s quiet and distraction free), you are ready to move to a quiet location outdoors and repeat the training sessions in this new environment.

When your dog is obedient indoors and in quiet outdoor locations, you can move on to slightly move busier places to see how your dog responds.

Finish Training With Some Fun!
It’s good to finish all training sessions by doing something the dog enjoys and is able to do. You can play with your dog if you like, but do not save the greatest rewards for the end of the training session. As I mentioned earlier, your dog will want to end the training quickly just to receive his final reward.
