Cures For Dog Boredom

In this article, we will examine the any different solutions which are available to you if your dog is suffering from boredom while you’re out during the day.

Firstly, physical activity is the best way to cure boredom, so remember to give your dog daily walks. In the long run, this is the best solution if your dog is bored.

If your dog persistently barks and howls when you leave him alone, train him to respond to the “Quiet” command, then pretend to leave the house as a test.

Here’s How To Do This Step-By-Step:

* Attract your dog’s attention.

* Give your dog the “Quiet” command, and then stand outside your front door.

* If your dog barks, drop a tin tray or throw a bunch of keys at the door to startle him.

* Return and praise your dog when he’s quiet, then leave and try the same exercise again.

Cures For Digging
Your dog is much less likely to dig if he has a full stomach. So if you feed your dog before you leave him alone for any long period of time, he’s less likely to be in the mood for digging. If your dog is left alone in the daytime, try feeding him in the morning instead of the evening.

Another option is to allow your dog to redirect his digging behavior by giving him his own area where he is allowed to dig.

Cure For Chewing
Put your dog in his crate while you’re out. Make sure you have left him his favorite toys to keep him entertained.

    This is interesting… I have an 11-year-old Lab and I think he’s bored, because all he does is sleep. But he does have an overactive thyroid problem, so that may be tiring him out. I try to give a short walk every day, but sometimes I just don’t have time. He knows how to sit, lay down, shake, jump, and bow, and I’ve trained all those with Clicker Training. Could my dog be bored if all he does is just lay around and sleep?
