Most dogs at some time or another can become overexcited. But you need to know how to handle this behavior so it doesn’t become permanent. When your dog gets over excited he may bark hysterically, chase his tail, chew stones, compulsively groom himself, or demand to be picked up by you. If this becomes a regular problem, you should consult your vet just to make sure it isn’t being caused by a medical condition. As long as it isn’t a medical condition, you can continue with basic obedience training – which will teach your dog how to be better behaved, and also mean you have much more control over your dog. |
