When To Train Your Dog

Training needs to be fun for you and your dog at all times.

It’s usually best to start training in a quiet environment, and increase the distractions over time (several weeks or so), until your dog behaves well in any environment you and your dog may be in.

Remember to keep all of the training sessions short, and only train when your dog and you are alert.

We recommend the Adam Katz dogproblems.com membership site for a fast, easy and simple way to fix your dog's behavior problems. To find out more, Click here.

Remember: You shouldn’t bother issuing any commands that you aren’t alert enough to enforce. For example: If you tell your dog to “Sit”, you need to enforce the command and see it through – not give up and try teaching him another command instead.

It’s a wise idea to end each training session on a positive note. Maybe a game (but not every time, as your dog will look forward to the end of the session every time you train), or by commanding your dog to do something he can do.

Use Short Training Sessions
Nearly every dog you’ll ever meet will undoubtedly have a shorter attention span than its owner – so use this to your advantage.

You should train the dog for a maximum of 15 minutes, around twice a day. Do not attempt to train if either you or the dog is not concentrating.
